Bloor Homes
A development in nearby Shepton Mallet for over 350 houses on Duchy Land. Prince Charles was keen to use local products, and his architects, Robert Adam, in conjunction with the local planners chose Doulting Stone to be the main stone supplier. Close liaisons between all of us resulted in a diverse and cost effective development. The plinth coarses were Doulting Ashlar stone with our split face or rubble walling above. Window cills and heads were used. Sometimes brick was used in conjunction with Doulting Stone to give variety. Three storey flats were also incorporated into the build and an Obelisk was erected with a time capsule built into it for future generations to find. The original development is over fifteen years old now and the stone is mellowing down nicely.
