Doulting Ashlar House
A local builder bought the building plot and used it as a fill-in project to keep staff busy during quiet periods. Sample panels were built and 100mm Ashlar was decided upon and agreed by the local planning department. The coarse heights of the Ashlar walls were worked out by us in conjunction with the builder, once the heights of the windows were determined, and the joint size of 3mm selected. The window surrounds were developed by taking patterns of other local examples to be in keeping, and a build schedule was worked out. The build took about nine months and was successful.
